## Reassessment of Pollution Potential Zones Become Opportunities for Rebirth

### Project Background

Due to its location, the Da-Ping-Ding area has often been a place of illegal waste dumping for years. The Ministry of Environment and the Environmental Protection Bureau have been investing resources in assessing the pollution potential of illegal dumping in the area and evaluating the feasibility of land development.

### Survey Logic

To reduce costs and enable more efficient screening, areas of high-pollution-potential are selected by comparing historical image maps, and these are used together with on-site investigation. Based on the previous screening process, ApolloTech can conduct further on-site investigations in the areas selected as potential sites for illegal dumping efficiently and effectively.

### Remediation Approach

ApolloTech continues to assist the environmental protection sector in two phases of this pollution assessment program. From the original 294 areas of high-pollution-potential zones, after on-site surveys and interviews, and preliminary sampling and screening work considering the land development strategy, we conducted waste investigations in 110 locations. We then estimated the cost and feasibility of different clean-up options as a reference for the benefits of subsequent development.
